Celeris® Laboratory Airflow
Control System

University of RichmondCeleris is a microprocessor-based airflow control system for research laboratories and other critical room environments. Providing effective integration--and all the benefits of Usage Based Controls™--the system can meet an array of information needs, from the simplest to the most complex. Celeris' information technology generates a variety of reports, converting data into useful information to enhance your system's performance.

Celeris provides:

  • Cost-effective integration
  • BACnet™ interface
  • The ability to monitor, change and exchange data from a central location
  • Pressurization control
  • Space comfort control
    • Temperature control
    • Humidity control
    • Occupancy control
  • Remote diagnostics
  • Comprehensive reporting and trending through the BMS

Interoperability. The Celeris system provides a BACnet interface for seamless, bi-directional communication with the Building Management System. All data values, alarms, and set points used in the room-level control scheme are available to the BMS. The Celeris system complies with the BACnet 135-2001 standard as an Application Specific Controller (B-ASC).

Single source responsibility in the laboratory space. Celeris offers single-source control capabilities in laboratory spaces and other critical environments. The system airflow controller handles both airflow and temperature control, thus eliminating the need for multiple controllers in a space, and reducing cost and coordination efforts.

Platform to grow and expand. Celeris' architecture allows you to easily reconfigure your system as your facility needs change. The system's platform will enable you to add new software applications as they become available.

Complete Environmental Control

A new control platform that leverages LonWorks™ technology and the Phoenix Accel II® venturi valve, to provide the complete solution for control of critical environments
. The Celeris 2 LonWorks based valve controller (LVC), utilizes a distributed control architecture to perform all critical room control functions:

  • Pressurization control
  • Temperature control
  • Humidity control
  • Occupancy mode control
  • Emergency mode control

The Celeris 2 LVC offers the power and flexibility of a conventional room control system but in a more stream-lined and cost-effective manner. Targeted at Cleanrooms, Vivariums and their support spaces, Celeris 2 can operate as either a stand-alone or fully integrated control system.

Accel® II Airflow Control Valves
Now Available with Electric Actuation!

This high performance airflow-metering device is the foundation of every airflow control system we provide.Accel II Valve

  • Accuracy ± 5% of signal
  • Response time < 1 second
  • 20 to 1 turndown
  • Pressure independent
  • No scheduled maintenance required
  • 3 year warranty

The family of valves, available in 8", 10" and 12" sizes, cover airflow ranges from 35 cfm (59m3/hr) to 6000 cfm (10,200m3/hr) while providing turndown ratios up to 20 to 1. In addition, all valves are available with a variety of options including enhanced corrosive protection and various control and actuation choices. Accel II valves have a conical shaped diffuser for ultra quiet operation, thereby reducing or eliminating the need for silencers.

Using the Valve to Meter Airflow

All Phoenix valves meter airflow using the same control approach-combining a calibrated shaft position with a self-adjusting cone to produce a pressure independent device.

As duct static pressure fluctuates, the valve compensates to hold exhaust flows steady. It does this through movement of the spring-loaded cone assembly along the shaft to size the orifice opening appropriately. No long, straight runs of duct are required for effective operation.

High Speed Electric Actuation for Laboratory Applications

  • Engineered specifically for laboratory application
  • Available in all sizes and classes of valve
  • Three options for failsafe
  • Quiet operation

As an addition to our pneumatically actuated product, this option delivers the same critical performance needed for laboratory applications:

  • A one second speed of response
  • ± 5% accuracy
  • Years of maintenance-free reliable service.

Electric actuation is available on the Accel®II valve in either medium or low-pressure configurations for supply, general exhaust or fume hood exhaust applications. One of three choices may be selected for the failsafe position, normally open, normally closed, or last position. Lastly sound power level measurements have shown the product to meet the strict ASHRAE guidelines for all laboratory applications.

Compact Cage Rack Valve

Much shorter than the original cage rack valve, this product is designed specifically for vivariums with limited installation space.

  • Easily installed below the ceiling leaving room for cage rack mobility.
  • Optional white powder coating for aesthetically pleasing installation.
  • Includes graduated scale for reference to valve position.
  • Reduces first and operating costs due to elimination of rack blowers.

Active Pressure Monitor
(APM)

University of RichmondThis monitor uses an industrial grade differential pressure transducer to directly measure room pressure. To accommodate switchable rooms, the room pressure alarm set point can be remotely switched from a dry contact.

  • Accuracy is ± 0.5% terminal point
  • Alarms for pressure and flow
  • Flush mount
  • Key locked access panel

Local Display Unit (LDU)

Vertex PharmaceuticalsIntended for use outside of animal holding rooms, vivariums, and wet chemistry labs, the LDU serves as a local user interface panel. The LDU connects directly to the Celeris room-level network and allows users to display any value available on the network, edit set points and change various control modes.

With a 10-line by 16-character graphic display, up to 250 variables may be mapped to the LDU for monitoring or control purposes. The LDU provides two levels of pass code protection: Read-only and full access for those authorized to edit set point values. Data is displayed in up to 50 configurable screens; each screen may be given a descriptive name to organize data easier. Each screen displays up to five variables. Each variable includes a description, the present value and an appropriate unit of measure.

A six-button keypad allows users to enter pass codes, navigate through display screens, edit set points and access LDU utility functions, such as time and date settings and display contrast adjustments. The LDU is available in flush-mount and surface-mount versions that attach to a variety of standard electrical enclosures and DIN rails.

The LDU provides local and easy access to control and performance data for any critical space utilizing the Celeris environmental control system.

Slim-line Monitor

University of RichmondPhoenix Controls Corporation FHM420 Fume Hood Monitor is a new slim-line monitor for laboratory fume hoods that is approximately one fourth the size of the company’s standard monitor. The monitor mounts on the front frame of any manufacturer’s fume hood and has a very slim profile, measuring approximately one inch (24mm) wide and four and one-half inches high (112 mm). Its design keeps pace with recent changes in fume hood styling. As one component of the company’s airflow control system for fume hoods, this full-function monitor provides laboratory personnel with continuous operating status information. During normal states of operation, the monitor will indicate safe working conditions using a small green light. Should exhaust airflow levels decrease below a specified level, both visual and audible alarms will alert operators to potentially unsafe operating conditions. Icon's on the face of the monitor can indicate several states of operation including:

  • Standard occupied mode (i.e. 100 fpm)
  • Caution flow alarm
  • Standby unoccupied mode (i.e. 60 fpm)
  • Power loss alarm

Two additional icons function as a touch pad interface to either acknowledge an alarm condition by muting the audible alarm or switch the hood into a high flow emergency exhaust mode. The new monitor is available in either gray or white.
